Ty’s Famous Spaghetti Carbonara

This was Ty’s go-to meal when he used to work in residential care. It was popular, easy, filling and didnt require many ingredients.

What You’ll Need

Ingredients:

  • Half packet of spaghetti
  • 3 whole eggs
  • 150 grams of parmesan cheese, shredded
  • Dash of thickened cream
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
  • 200g bacon
  • 2 pack of garlic bread

Utensils:

  • Oven and oven tray
  • Stove cook top
  • Meat chopping board
  • Knife
  • Fork/ whisker
  • Pan
  • Large pot
  • Large bowl
  • Tongs

Serves 4

Method

  • Half fill a large pot with water, add one tablespoon of salt and set on high to boil.
  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  • Pour a drizzle of olive oil over a pan, and turn on medium. Roughly dice up your bacon and place it into your pan. Stir your bacon frequently to avoid burning or sticking. Once golden brown, remove from heat and set aside.
  • Place garlic bread on an oven-safe tray and put it into the oven. Turn the oven down to about 170 degrees.
  • Garlic bread cooks within 12 minutes, however, check in on it to ensure it isn’t burning.
  • In a large bowl, crack in 3 whole eggs, as much parmesan cheese as you would like (we added about 150 grams), a dash of thickened cream and 2 teaspoons of cracked pepper.
  • Stir the ingredients until everything is combined.
  • Add your pasta to the pot of boiling water. It should take about 8-10 minutes to cook. The easiest way to check if it is cooked is to taste it!
  • Once the pasta is cooked, turn the cooktop off and using tongs, grab the boiling hot pasta and put it straight into the bowl of egg and cheese

  • Stir well the mixture really well, the hot pasta will cook the eggs, and melt the cheese making a beautiful sauce.

  • Add the cooked bacon to the pasta and stir again.

  • Serve the pasta hot and fresh, cut up your garlic bread and top with cheese.

  • Enjoy!
